A Statement from GCPL Director Michael Limer

The library is here to serve the people of Guernsey County. We take that mission very seriously. That is why it was a hard decision to determine it is in the best interest of our community for the library to be closed to the public beginning at 5:30 on Monday, March 16, 2020. The library administration will keep gathering information from our state and local officials with plans to reopen to the public as soon as reasonably possible.
In the meantime, we are working to provide some services to the public while we are closed. As we plan out what we can do, we will try our best to keep the community informed through library and local media. We encourage you to reach out to us via phone and email with any questions. We appreciate your patience as the library figures out how to adapt to best serve you.
Please remember that our community’s support of the library has allowed us to become fine-free, so no one has to worry about getting to the library if they believe themselves at risk. If you want to return  an item, please use the return boxes at Byesville and Downtown or the return drop at Crossroads. And if you can’t make it in to return items, when things return to normal, bring back your borrowed material and you can return to regular library use.
We would also encourage the use of our digital material. Your library card gives you access to e-books, audiobooks, magazines, movies, and TV shows via the Ohio Digital Library and Hoopla that you can get from the comfort of your home. See our web site or call us for more information.
We encourage everyone to keep themselves well-informed and safe. We are very much looking forward to when we can serve you in person again.
Respectfully,
Michael Limer, Director
Guernsey County Public Library
